Emerson CU-265, 1940 Tube complement: 12J5GT 1st RF, 12K7GT 2nd RF, 12SF5GT detector, 50L6GT audio output, 35Z5GT rectifier. Approximately 8-1/4 inches / 21 cm wide. This radio's five-tube TRF circuit is unusual. By 1940, TRF circuits were generally used only in the cheapest radios, and they were all four-tube TRFs with only one RF-amplifier stage. This radio's extra RF stage gives it sensitivity and selectivity that approaches the superheterodyne All American Five. From a 1940 Emerson brochure. |
